Premature Aging
A large portion of our practice deals with the unhealthy consequences of excessive unprotected sun and tanning booth (UVA) exposure: precancerous and cancerous growths, so called "age spots," wrinkles and fine lines, loss of skin elasticity, appearance of small blood vessel spots and red skin, etc. Sun protection with safe sun practices and use of broad spectrum sunscreen lotions can help delay these unsightly aging changes. The SPF number on the sunscreen label rates UVB (short ultraviolet) protection only. It does not rate UVA (long ultraviolet), a known cause of skin aging and skin cancer. Be sure your sunscreen lotion offers broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection.

A Lot of Commotion about Lotion
Advanced Dermatology and Skin Renewal Center also assists patients with their needs in terms of skin care products they should use at home, some of which are available in our office. In addition to lotions, sunscreens, cleansers, and moisturizers, we offer the M.D. version of the Clarisonic Skin Care Brush which has been shown to cleanse the skin twice as effectively as manual cleansing and to increase the effectiveness of skin care products.
